Carnival Splendor was my first cruise experience and it was amazing! Much more enjoyable than what I thought it would be. Boarding process was straight forward when you have already completed your online check in. There were 6-8 counters to process the passenger flow and they were handing us exciting cruise flyers with on-board dining information. Lucky for us, it was a special event for Carnival Splendor to start the season - We had a theme night called "80's Rock or Glow". We even received special lanyards with lights to glow at the night party.
The ship had a very welcoming feeling with nice decor and fun filled atmosphere. The ship crew were ready to welcome you on-board. As there were still some time left before check-in to our cabins we went to main Lido deck for our buffet lunch. Once our room was ready, we checked in to our beautiful and spacious balcony cabin. We were given a scavenger hunt to explore the ship, so without wasting anytime we went to visit 14 different locations. We visited different dining venues like Masala Tiger, Mongolian Wok, Fahrenheit 555 steakhouse, Guy's Burger joint and the 24 hour Pizzeria. We also explored the top deck area including the water slides, the kids play area, the basketball court and adults only area which had a very nice pool and jacuzzi. Then we proceeded to Cloud 9 spa facilities and explored the spa room, heated lounges, the gym and other relaxation areas.
Followed by a compulsory security information session we joined the special welcome party on the main Lido deck. The big screen by the pool deck was pretty amazing and close by to Bluelguana Tequila Bar and RedFrog Rum bar. We enjoyed some cocktails and chilled in the lounge area - it was one of my favourite areas.
We finsihed our remaining journey visiting the other areas of the ship like the casino, the retail stores and theatre.
Finally it was time for dinner and there were two dining areas - the Black Pearl and the Golden Pearl. I had my dinner at the Golden Pearl Restaurant. It had a very nice interior and the menu had many options to choose from. After dinner we went straight to the theatre to watch a beautiful play with 80's theme performed by energetic entertainers. We then joined the night disco party alongside the pool deck where everyone was dancing and enjoying the pumping music. It was also nice to meet and see other travel agents dressed in 80's theme costume.
Carnival Splendor is a really a large ship and offers so many activities onboard for all age groups. It has a number of different fun activities and areas to relax as per your choice. I will definitely like to go on this cruise with my friends and family and I can't wait for my next cruise!
